Another weekend gone and another one started – for most people. I work in retail so I’ll be back to work Friday and Saturday this week. This weekend was pretty eventful. We enjoyed some time with my husband’s family which doesn’t happen as often as we’d like it to.
Josh’s sister Diana who lives in Chicago made the trip up to our area; we were checking the weather all week wondering if she would make it back. We got about 10 inches of snow in our neck of the woods last Friday evening into Saturday morning, thankfully she made it back before it got too nasty.
That morning Josh saw a commercial for Disney on Ice and he saw Ali’s reaction to it! She was so excited and he remarks ‘hey we should surprise the kids with this tomorrow evening after you are off work.’ Me who has had it penciled in to my calendar since I first saw a commercial for it was shocked he would even want to go. So we got some tickets and decided it would be fun to Surprise Ali and C.J, my niece, with tickets Saturday evening. I think the parents were more excited than kids about the surprise! Once the kids got there C.J who could read was able to make out what we were doing. Ali was just amazed by all the Disney character’s at the souvenir stands. When everything started Jake was excited with all the music and colors – until he feel asleep after intermission. Ali didn’t take her eyes off the ice the entire time. It brought tears to my eyes just to see her excitement for each new characters that came out. It was purely amazing and just entertaining for all ages – if you get a chance to go I highly suggest it! (Never mind the crazy hair in these pics – her piggy tails had fallen out and she couldn’t sit still to have them fixed!) She’s always one for making crazy faces at the camera. She was so excited to see what all the fuss was about!
Sunday we made a trip to Josh’s aunts house to meet up with some of his cousins we hadn’t seen in a while. His parents and sisters came as well. It had probably been about 4 years since we had seen everyone and some of them hadn’t met Jacob yet. Josh smoked a turkey and we headed on our way. We had more food than you could imagine. Everything was delicious and Ali enjoyed playing with her new ‘friends’. She played so hard she feel asleep as we were were loading up the car and getting things ready to leave. That’s always a good sign! It was bed time by the time we got home and both kids went to bed just fine – which is another win! Overall it was a great weekend with family.
We are ready to spend some time with my side of the family tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I enjoy this time of year getting together and enjoying laughs, stories, games etc. I’m thankful for so much and continue to count my blessings. Many blessings to you and your family and Happy Thanksgiving to all. Be safe this weekend and enjoy every moment.
